2025 Golden Apple Awards

Each year, GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences students representing each class cast their votes for the Golden Apple Awards, selecting faculty members and residents who have made a significant impact on their education through their exceptional teaching and mentoring.

The SMHS Student Council would like to thank all of the students who voted for this year’s Golden Apple Award winners! While many deserving faculty members were nominated, this year’s winners were chosen for going above and beyond with their dedication to compassionate leadership and supporting us during our time at GW.

PA Program Golden Apple Award — Michael Johnson, PA, assistant professor of physician assistant studies, and of neurological surgery

"Professor Johnson serves as a constant source of encouragement for students and always takes the time to be personable and inspire confidence in his students. I feel lucky to have had Professor Johnson as an instructor and look forward to considering him a future colleague."

“Professor Johnson has enhanced student education well beyond what can be expected for a professor. He works hard to cultivate a positive learning environment with engaging material and open discussion about complex topics.
